Project: AmbienT Response to Avoid Negative Stress and enhance SAFEty
Acronym | Trans.Safe (Reference Number: aal-2013-6-064) |
Duration | 01/07/2014 - 01/07/2017 |
Project Topic | Trans.Safe is a system to support experienced (senior) workers who can and wish to stay actively longer in a job position with a high personal and public safety risks (truck, train, control room personnel etc.). The Trans.Safe system is able to determine stress parameters of an employee and to provide direct feedback or to initiate countermeasures against negative stress or under challenge at his workplace. Depending on the outcome of the analysis, ambient devices change the environment of the workplace to counteract the employee’s stress level. The key features are: 1) Fusion of unobtrusive, ambient low-cost sensor data to monitor stress-levels, while minimizing direct physical contact, 2) Algorithms to evaluate different sources and information of physiological data, 3) Actuators of light and sound to directly response to the monitoring and react in critical situations at work through biologically activating light, sound, etc. 4) Mobile user interfaces with real-time feedback informing the worker about his current physical and physiological condition. 5) Workflow optimisation by historical data analysis and personalised advice. 6) Consider multi-person workplaces (e.g. central control room) as well as dynamic, mobile singe-person workplaces (e.g. cockpit of a lorry). 7) Open interfaces to existing driver assistance systems in vehicles and information networks of control rooms to increase quality of monitoring and stress responses. Employers will benefit, as they are able to keep their skilled elderly workers employed longer. It will also help companies to structure the workload healthier and more efficiently, thereby reducing absence. The system will also increase safety at work. Society will benefit, as it will experience higher public safety due to the healthier working environments in jobs with high public safety risks. Also, the system will secure work possibilities in times of demographic change. |
