Project: Policy tools for Baltic Sea nutrient management
Acronym | TOOLS2SEA (Reference Number: call2017-30) |
Duration | 01/10/2018 - 31/03/2020 |
Project Topic | The project TOOLS2SEA will generate much needed knowledge and policy advice about potentials of and experiences with policy instruments and related governance institutions for nutrient management, while providing an outlook on future directions for nutrient abatement in order to meet Baltic Sea Action Plan targets in the relevant countries. As a synthesis project it aims to screen but also go beyond the specific BONUS projects that have been initiated with reference to the topic on ‘Governance structures, policy performance and policy instruments’ relating to nutrient management. TOOLS2SEA will summarize research results and insights from a broader array of studies, projects and publications available in the international literature, as well as in national languages of the Baltic Sea region. It will synthesize potentials and practical experiences with specific policy instruments designated for nutrient management, while placing and analyzing these in context of the domestic and regional governance institutions in place in Baltic Sea countries and beyond. TOOLS2SEA will identify critical gaps in current knowledge and knowledge translations into practice to provide suggestions for future institutional arrangements, pilot experiments in nutrient management and innovations in policy instruments, as well as for improvements in the knowledge base. |
