Project: European metrology for earth observation and climate
Global observations of the Earth’s atmosphere, oceans and land from space are vital for climate change studies and the successful implementation of mitigation measures by policy makers. These space-based measurements need to be traceable and consistent to allow comparison with data gathered from other sources, e.g. ground-based monitoring stations, and to form a complete picture. However, this is not the case at present. This project will develop new standards and will validate the sensors used in satellites so that accurate, laboratory-quality measurements of climate parameters can be made from space.
