Project: Cost-Efficient Data Collection for Smart Grid and Revenue Assurance
Measuring power flows in the distribution network becomes more important due to distributed generation and storage. Data can drive priorization of network investment for robustness as well as input for local grid control to reduce power peaks and the need for network investment. Similar data can be used for excessive loss detection and derivation of measures to reduce losses. The project will create a cost-efficient blueprint for a hierarchical sensor rollout to substations, transformer stations and distribution nodes (inputs and outputs) to serve both purposes mentioned above. To save cost and reduce installation time, novel approaches of data collection in the distribution network shall be developed and tested. After identification of high loss areas on the distribution tree, tariff incentives reducing loss shall be designed and implemented.
