Project: Increased Self Consumption of Photovoltaic Power for Electric Vehicle Charging in Virtual Networks
The proposed project aims to establish and demonstrate a city-scale distributed network of Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging stations and photovoltaic (PV) systems for production, consumption and storage, via the EV battery, of solar power in two Northern European cities. Two system installations of PV EV-charging units connected via a virtual network will be established in the project, one in Uppsala, Sweden and one in Tromsø, in northern Norway. The project involves stakeholders representing two international research teams, two municipalities, a car service provider, and a SME. The project is expected to generate valuable scientific data regarding how intermittent local production and consumption of solar power affects the low voltage grid, impact user adoptability and empowerment and validate a novel business model to accelerate deployment of EVs and the use of RES in European city grids.
