Project: Restoring locomotion in paraplegic patients based on targeted epidural electrical stimulation
Acronym | RESTORE (Reference Number: 10889) |
Duration | 01/04/2017 |
Project Topic | Our aim is to provide Electrical Epidural Stimulation for patients with an incomplete Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) to restore their capacity to walk again. Today, over 200,000 patients in the EU and US are bound to a wheelchair, with around 10,000 new incidents annually. In the project, the RESTORE system is developed, which uses patient-specific pre-operative MR imaging to predict induced motor responses and provide optimized electrode configurations to match the patients’ individual anatomy. |
