Project: Genomic Selection for improved Nitrogen use Efficiency in Winter Wheat varieties

GENIE partners will jointly develop new varieties of bread wheat with improved Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) using a genomics approach. A common phenotyping protocol will be applied and a genomic selection strategy for NUE in wheat with high baking quality will be developed. Competitive bread wheat varieties with improved NUE and high yield stability shall enter official variety registration tests in several EUROSTARS countries simultaneously.
