Project: Authentication of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms (pills) in Packaging
The random 3-dimensional surface and subsurface structure of pharmaceutical pills in blisters is used as a unique fingerprint to securely identify each blister without any changes to the production process of the pills or the blister. Ultrafast 3D measurement of pill surfaces in the blister during production serve to generate individual codes which are encrypted and printed onto the blister. All information about the blister and its content is thus securely contained on the blister itself.
