Project: A biomarker chip-assay in preserved red blood cells for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.
We will deliver a new and practical method for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) using only a few drops of blood. The diagnosis is based on the simultaneous detection of two unique biomarkers in red blood cells (RBCs). Since these biomarkers start to decay quickly after blood withdrawal, a microfluidic chip will be developed to preserve RBCs and enable reliable biomarker-staining. The assay will be technically validated and an initial test of performance will be performed.
