Project: Artificial cornea for drug permeability assay
The human eye cornea is the transparent structure in the front surface of the eye ball. As part of ocular drug development process, pharmaceutical companies use animal corneas to assess ocular permeability of drug molecules. The goal of our artificial cornea (ArtiCo) project is to develop an artificial human-like cornea for permeability assay (PA). ArtiCo will be commercialized immediately after this project as a cost effective alternative to animal testing.
