Project: Combinatorial Biology to Improve Structural Biology

Structure based drug design (SBDD) is critical for the development of nearly all new drugs. SBDD demands soluble, functional protein that is stable at high concentrations for up to weeks. Most proteins do not meet these requirements. Domain trapping (DT) efficiently screen millions of variations of a protein to find the most soluble and stable. We will improve the speed of DT and integrate directed evolution to not only explore the native amino acid sequence, but stabilizing mutants as well.
