| Project Topic | We propose a new treatment strategy for partial lipodystrophy (PL) based on gene therapy. PL belongs to a heterogeneous group of rare disorders leading to an imbalance in fat accumulation accelerating a broad spectrum of metabolic diseases. In PL patients, fat accumulates in the liver which can result in hepatomegaly and cirrhosis. As liver fat accumulation is central to the progress of many comorbidities, any reduction of steatosis will greatly reduce the risk of disease related comorbidities. |
