| Project Topic | AutoSpot is an automated in-line inspection tool for car spot welds. The game-changing non-destructive test method sends an acoustic shock wave into a car body with a laser. The resulting airborne ultrasound is detected by Xarion's patented optical microphone (OM). Given a frequency range of 2 MHz (20 x the bandwidth of current alternatives) and its sensitivity, the OM detects all relevant defects. Contrary to handheld ultrasound devices, it can be automated and integrated into production lines. |
