Project Topic	A novel instrument and method will be developed to rapidly determine the oxygen affinity of hemoglobin in patients with hereditary hemolytic anemias (HHA). This method will mimic physiological conditions by measuring the oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve (ODC) in red blood cells (RBCs) during shear stress (Shearox measurement). Based on such an ODC measurement, personalized treatment can be developed for patients with HHA to enhance their quality of life and reduce costs of treatment.
