Project Topic	Lasers with multiple gigahertz repetition rates and producing femtosecond (fs) pulses at 1.55 um are in high demand for several applications. So far, no such source is commercially available because of degradation issues related to the gain medium. In LONGLIGHT, laser technology know-how coupled to doped glass production and characterization will be put at work together with modelling, metrology, and assembly technology to develop a 10 year-lifetime high-performance 2.5 GHz fs laser.
