| Project Topic | Photo-Acoustic (PA) imaging is highly innovative and goes beyond the standard of care. It uses laser light as excitation energy, yet detects ultrasound (US) to study optical absorption contrast. With sufficient image depth (=5.3cm), PA imaging is a superior method for breast cancer diagnosis. To make this happen, we combine beyond state-of-the-art materials, laser technology, optics, electronics and computing into a new PAUS system that couples 3D PA imaging to truly 3D US, a world’s first. |
