Project Topic	The VULCAN project will provide European manufacturing industry with a unique and affordable instrument for measuring stresses inside metallic structures. Residual stresses inevitably appear and evolve during the fabrication and operation of metal-components. The stresses have very large impact on the mechanical properties and lifetime of a component. The instrument developed to measure stresses will be based on an innovative ultra-compact neutron generator in a turn-key container-size solution.
