Project: Development and introduction of novel technology to be embedded in Myoton Lite allowing for objectified muscle assessment.
Consortium will develop a novel technology for medical diagnostic device to satisfy the need for more accurate and simple muscle assessment of wide range of endusers – clinical physicians, physical therapists, medical professionals, personal trainers, professional and amateur athletes, physically active people. The benefits from a more accurate assessment of the muscle condition lead to better informed choices for optimising training, recovering from physical efforts and treatment programmes. Today, the biomechanical properties are inaccessible for these users, even so the relevance of these properties is well understood and the need is clearly expressed. Müomeetria has developed a method and device for measuring these properties in a clinical setting - Myoton 3, we will launch the next round of development aimed at enhanced and simplified measurement technology that can be embedded into a new product - Myoton Lite, which has features allowing for access to a mass market._x000D_The advancement of the technology will be COly in the usability – measurements can be done by a non-medical personnel (who has only had specific training regarding Myoton measurements) as well as a simple assessment of the present condition and indications for further training schedule can be done also by the person him/herself (the baseline technology within Myoton 3 product requires both the measurement and the assessment to be done by a physician with the help of the PC). Technology embedded within Myoton Lite will have simplified and more standardized measurement procedure, also sufficient data will be displayed on the screen of the device, some analysis will be done after transferring the data to a mobile phone, PC or other devices._x000D_Also, smaller size of the device and simpler to production procedure will be ensured, reduced cost – prerequisites for price sensitive mass market. New solutions for mechanics, electronics, overall design and the user interface of the technology need to be generated – the existing technology embedded in Myoton 3 device can be a baseline only for using the oscillation theory for the measurement – the complexity of Myoton 3 test fits in a lab environment._x000D_The combined effect of the abovementioned modifications allows accessing the abovementioned market enabling significant advancement for monitoring the effect of training and assessing the musculoskeletal condition – leading to enhanced performance, reduced risk of overreach, –training and resulting injuries as well as quicker more efficient recovery from injuries. An optimized training programme is also a more pleasant experience, which may influence the health behaviour of the general public – more people will involve in physical activity. People also tend to be more motivated by seeing numeric results of their efforts._x000D_Even a small increase in the number of physically active people may lead to significant socio-economic results – as physical activity is considered vital to COtain the health in general and also for prevention of many musculoskeletal disorders. A related major feature of the advancement of the technology – the device will be scalable – as it will allow essentially for everybody to take the test in household setting and therefore take better care of their condition._x000D_Müomeetria as the owner of the technology, is leading the development programme. All of the other Ps have previous cooperation history with Müomeetria and importantly, also experience with validation of medical devices and application studies. Specifically, Diasu has developed diagnostic technology (embedded different gait analysis devices). Diasu is cooperating with extensive network of Italian research institutions, they will contribute their advice as well as provide their lab premises and the technology for validation studies. The Jyväskylä group will be involved in providing their advice for the definition, implementation and R&D phases, also their lab premises and equipment (incl. tonometer). Tartu University will also deal with data collection and analysis for validation studies, lab premises, equipment and personnel will be contributed._x000D_The technical aspects of technological development will be outsourced from specialized contractors – Oskando OÜ (contract developer electronics devices), HSF Medeto Ltd. (contract manufacturer of medical devices) and Datagates Group OÜ (contract service provider of IT solutions development). The 4th contractor, inBAC Ltd. will advice and participate COly in setting up Beta test sites for validation._x000D_Specifically, to the current project, the validation of the technological for benefits of mass consumer can be launched already from a start date of the project. This is possible as the Myoton 3 has been technically perfected and certified and as the Myoton Lite will be based on the same principle (providing same muscle parameters) - therefore validation studies will be started with Myoton 3._x000D_

Project Results (after finalisation) |
The CO results of the MYOLITE project is the completion of the MyotonPRO (formerly named as Myoton Lite) medical device technology development. In addition, the Consortium initiated and conducted number of successfully scientific validation and reliability studies that serve as an essential prerequisite for the commercialization phase. The CO Participant successfully completed the CE marking process of MyotonPRO device, which is now certified as a Class 1 Medical Device according to European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC+2007/47/CE. |
