Aim of the joint call	The ambition to position Europe as a leader in quantum technologies hinges on developing high-quality, scalable quantum chip technologies. Trapped ions represent a promising avenue, yet Europe faces challenges, notably the migration of semiconductor fabrication expertise outside the EU, reducing local knowledge and increasing dependence on non-European economies. This call seeks to develop chip-based ion-trap technologies within Europe, leveraging European designs and fabrication capabilities to ensure sovereignty and lead in ion trap quantum technologies.
