Project: Printed Electrochemical ELISA
Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent assays (ELISA) carried out in clinical, environmental or agri-food analysis merge a global market which in 2012 was around 850 US dollars. A current trend in this market is looking for increased sensitivity and multiplexing detection that can no be achieved with current optical based detection systems. Therefore Electrochemical ELISA appears as an interesting alternative to achieve these goals if an attractive and cost efficient manufacturing technology can be implemented. Applying R2R and innovative printing technologies, planar electrochemical transducers based on flexible substrates can be now mass produced with a low cost and with highly repeatable protocols. Therefore the main goal of the project is to move these printing technologies already applied to other sectors to the ELISA and (bio)sensors market.
