Project: Flexible High Performance Machining with Mobile Systems
The use of small machine tools for machining large work pieces is an approach to address various demands in the production and maintenance of large scale components. Already being used for very simple machining operations, existing custom-built machines are not capable to fulfil the high demands posted by various industry sectors. Furthermore, assistance systems and planning tools are not yet developed for an effective application of mobile machine tools. MobilePERFORM therefore aims for two main objectives: 1. Research and development towards new concepts for mobile machine tools, capable for universal use and highly demanding machining operations. 2. Development and optimization of assistance systems, leading to a highly effective application of mobile machine tools in todays and future dynamic production environments.
