Project Topic | The main innovations are: • To reduce the cost and efficiency of heating systems by a local joule heating of plant roots based on electrically conductive plastics integrated in standard soilless systems. The required energy will be supplied by semi-transparent photovoltaic panels based on plastic back-sheets integrated in the greenhouses. • To adapt and optimize the ultra-low energy drip irrigation to the soilless greenhouse’s conditions in order to increase the use of wastewater, reduce the water & energy needs.• Identify the potential of magnetically treated water for increasing the efficiency of irrigation water, fertilizer and pipes irrigation systems in greenhouses environments, which leads to better quality and quantity yield of greenhouse crops. Control the number of pathogens/plant parasites by combining magnetic fields, control release pesticides and optimized agronomic parameters. • To develop a new control release system based on tailor-made biodegradable polymers, that in the melt state can be used to coat & encapsulate natural pesticides from botanical innovative formulations suitable for several crops. The capsules will release gradually the natural pests, increase efficiency & protect pests from light & temperature. • To develop innovative transparent agriculture films, biodegradable in soil conditions, suitable to be used inside greenhouse conditions. Requirements will be achieved by the formation of a partial chemical crosslinking structure (by reactive extrusion) in the bioplastic, that will increase the chemical, mechanical and thermal resistance of the bioplastics without reduction of composability rate. • ICT tools for Agriculture to control climatic conditions. This information will be used to perform training courses for farmers and define best practice techniques for greenhouse business. This will also suitable for processing companies can manufacture products that fulfil better the farmer’s needs. |
