Project: SimpliCITY - Marketplace for user-centered sustainability services plattform

Project Topic	In the past decades, European cities have set ambitious goals for low carbon transition, but regional sustainability services (RSUS) lack an active user base. Only 15% of consumers take sustainability into account during a purchase and ""rebound effect"" can reach 80%. At the current pace, RSUS will fail to develop into sustainable business models and cities' efforts remain insufficient to meet targets set for 2050. SimpliCITY aims to boost the digital competences of the urban communities in Salzburg, Uppsala and three follower-cities in living a ""Sustainable Lifestyle"". The objectives of SimpliCITY are: to scale up and increase the visibility of regional sustainability services by means of a novel aggregated platform (O1), to raise awareness and create a community through nudging by developing methods and tools for nudging a community for RSUS (O2), and, to initiate and foster international collaboration and knowledge transfer of Smart City Initiatives (O3). The project will provide the proof-of concept for a replicable online marketplace, which aggregates RSUS and engages citizens through behavioural nudges and gamified features. It will focus on bike-mobility services, local production & consumption and digital inclusion services. By the end of the project, we aim to increase consumer retention of RSUS by 15% in each city.
