Important partner countries on board: In many calls it has proven unproductive to launch calls without the key players on board. Experience has shown that partnering of applicants often works via these key players/countries, and it may therefore be essential to include them.
Critical mass of applicants available: It is important to anticipate the potential number of applicants interested in a call in order to design the workflow, time frame and also budget accordingly.
Type of projects: Before launching a call the network has to agree on the type of projects to be supported, including duration, TRLs, etc. Clarification of eligibility and transparency of procedures is essential to avoid misunderstandings on the part of the applicants.
